JEvents import plugin adds support of the popular open source event management component for Joomla - JEvents - in Smart Countdown 2.2.6 or later.
This plugin requres that you have at least one instance of "Latest Events" module published (it may still be invisible, e.g. published to "none" position). Then you will have to configure this module (refer to JEvents documentation) to show events from a category of your choise. When this module instance is selected in JEvents import plugin configuration, Smart Countdown module will automatically show countdown/count up to/from the current/next event, according to "Show Module" setting.
JEvents import plugin will add a new fieldset to Smart Countdown module configuration:
Enabled: if set to "No", plugin will have no effect. It will appear as enabled in Joomla Plugins manager, but Smart Countdown will not look up for JEvents events.
Module: you can have more than one instance of JEvents Latest Events module published. Here you can choose which instance to link to this instance of Smart Countdown. You can create several Smart Countdown module copies, each one with its own settings, including the link to a specific Latest Events instance.
Events in Queue: number of events in queue. By default Smart Countdown will use the Latest Events module setting, but you can override it here.
Show Events Titles: Event text displayed along with the counter is constructed from the generic event text (defined in Smart Countdown Basic options) and the event's titles pulled from the JEvents on import. This setting defines the order in which these two parts are concatenated to form the resulting text. If "Generic text only" is selected, event title will be omitted. Please note, that if this option is selected, "Link event" feature will not work because it requires the event title to be displyed.
Link Event: Controls how (an if) event text will act as a link to event details view in native Jevents. Available options:
- Always - always show event title as a link (stands for global YES)
- Never - never show event title as a link (stands for global NO)
- Only when event is in progress - show event title as a link only when the counter shows count up (after event starts)
- Only before event start - show event title as a link only when the counter shows countdown (before event starts)
Redirect on countdown zero: Automatically load event details view in native Jevents when countdown reaches zero. If you set this option to "Yes" your should also set it in "Automatic redirection" pane, otherwise it will have no effect.
The module above pulls events from Latest JEvents module that is displayed at the right side of the page (this is done for demonstration purposes only, the JEvents module visibility is not required - it cound be published to a nonexistent position or configured to show up on "no pages"). This Smart Countdown instance is configured so that it will show a count up from event start during the event's progress and a countdown to the next event otherwise. The mode change is performed automatically and does not require page refresh. "Link Event" option (new in version 2.2) is activated, so that a click on the event title will bring you to event details view.
The next example demonstrates that each counter instance can be configured independently. The module below pulls events for another JEvents Latest module copy which lists events in the alternative category.
"Time from now" displayed for each event in Latest JEvents module will correspond to the Smart Countdown values when the page is refreshed, but then while the page is open and counter goes these values will differ (JEvents module relative time is not updated until the page is requested again).
